The Storm that is Sterling

If you’re looking for a thrilling contemporary paranormal read with heroes who are to die for, then look no further than Lisa Renee Jones’ Zodius Series.

The second book in the series, The Storm that is Sterling is now available! I highly recommend this amazing series.

Adam, the leader of the evil Zodius soldiers has developed a street drug from his newborn’s DNA that is so addictive that he could easily created a worldwide dependency on him as the only source, as withdrawal kills the user. This drug will give Adam the power to rule the entire population if his plan for mass distribution is achieved. Sterling, and a brilliant, cancer stricken scientist, must stop Adam before it’s too late. But can Sterling trust this woman when he discovers this drug might be her only way of surviving cancer?. Is he in bed, and in love, with the enemy?

The Hero: Sterling

He was created, molded, formed from life, love, and misery…

Lethally daring. Ruthlessly passionate. He invites death to his door. Welcomes it with each breath he draws, each step he takes. And thus he is danger. A volatile storm that will sweep across the calm realms of humanity and shake it to the depths of its core. And that storm is…Sterling.

Shadow Magic is here!

I’m so happy that my Sisters of Magic trilogy is once more avaiable, beginning with Shadow Magic!  This trilogy is a historical paranormal set in Medieval England.  It’s one of the rare stories that I didn’t set in Scotland.

So, here’s the blurb for the first book. 🙂

With a past soaked in sin and darkness slowly closing in around him to claim his soul, Drogan only wants to live his life in solitude. Years in the king’s service and his numerous deeds directed by the crown have left Drogan with horrendous nightmares and immeasurable guilt…

Serena is a witch, cursed and forever alone. She accepts her future. Until she meets Drogan. With Drogan a passion deep and unyielding awakens inside her. She is willing to sacrifice herself for his love, but can he put his past to rest and embrace the future?

Serena leaned her head back and let the wind enfold her. The chill of the breeze made her wish she had thought to bring her cloak, but she had needed a quick escape from the great hall, from Drogan and his searching brown eyes. She ventured onto the battlements where she knew she could be alone. She loved looking out over Hawthorne and its people from the lofty perch.

She lifted her gaze and stared at the inky sky as the stars twinkled overhead. It was a full moon, and its bright light illuminated everything in its soft glow.

But she had no need of a light to know when Drogan drew near. She sensed him. She lowered her head to look at the land that was Gerard’s by birthright, but hers in God’s eyes.

“Hello, Lord Drogan,” she said without turning around.

He stepped beside her and placed his hands on the stone wall. “How did you know it was me?”

“You have a very unique scent. The sandalwood is very strong, but I also smell traces of pine and a hint of cinnamon.” She kept her eyes straight ahead, afraid to look at him.

Afraid of what she might see in his beautiful eyes.  But more afraid of what she might do just to have him touch her.

“Do I unsettle you?” he asked quietly. “I have a feeling you don’t care for me.”

His statement surprised her so much, she swiveled her head to him. She stared at his profile for a moment. “It is the truth. You do unsettle me, but not for the reason you think. You are a good man, my lord.”

“You say that as if you know it to be true.”

“Because I do know it to be true.”

His golden brown eyes shifted to her. “How do you know that? Because Gerard and Maris said so?”

“Actually, nay.  I know it because I feel it.” She reached up and placed her hand over her heart. “Here.”

As soon as she touched him she knew she’d done the wrong thing.  Something strong, something primal moved between them.  It was heat, it was passion.  And it doomed her.

“What are you?” he whispered, eyes narrowed on her in puzzlement.

Serena quickly dropped her arm and fisted her hand to keep the warmth of him against her as long as possible.  “I am a woman.”

He snorted. “You are much more than that,” he said and turned to look at the land again.

Serena sighed and leaned against the battlement wall. She didn’t move away from Drogan, although she should have.  Every fiber of her being screamed to run as far away from Drogan as she could.  She’d always listened to her conscious.  Why would she ignore it now?

But she knew the answer.  It was the desire, the need she felt inside Drogan.  The longer she stood beside him, the more she sealed her fate.

“I am a banabhuidseach.”

“What is that?” he asked as his gaze swiveled to her.

“It is Gaelic for witch.”

For several moments, he stared at her. She returned his look, watching him as he studied her.

“A witch?” he repeated softly.

“Aye. Gerard and Maris, along with the people of Hawthorne, protect me.”

“And why would you tell me? I could spread word of what you are,” he said, his posture now tense.

For a brief second, she closed her eyes. “You won’t do that, Lord Drogan. You care for Gerard and Maris too much to ever bring any type of sadness to their door, and you can tell how much they care for me.”

“And that I don’t understand,” he said, his voice rising on the wind. He stepped away and folded his arms over his chest. When he spoke again, he had regained control.  His deep brown eyes were narrowed, suspicious.  “I’ve known Gerard for many years, and never once has he spoken of you. We’ve shared horrors you cannot imagine. Why would he keep this from me?”

“You are blaming him for the wrong thing. You act as though you are angry because he never told you, when in fact you are angry because you cannot imagine he would believe in something like me.”

She didn’t have long to wait for his reaction.

His arms dropped to his side as he stepped toward her, his voice low and deadly. “How did you know that?  How did you know what I was thinking?”

She inhaled deeply. “I am a witch, my lord. Not in the sense you would think. I am not evil.”

“Tell me more then.” He spoke softly, but she knew he was close to the edge of reason.

She began this conversation, though for the life of her she didn’t know why.  She trusted few with the truth of what she was.  But, regardless, she would tell Drogan everything.  “I come from a line of women blessed with certain abilities.”

“Like what?” He leaned his elbow on the wall as he listened.

“I feel things deeper than you. For instance, the wind. Do you feel it?”

“Aye.  It is barely touching my skin.”

“Is it cold?”

“It is cool enough in this summer heat. Why?”

“To me, it feels like the icy fingers of winter. The heat from the sun may make you sweat, but it can, and sometimes does, blister my skin.”

“Does everything affect you thus?”

He nodded as he thought over her words. “Any other abilities?”

“A few,” she answered. She knew he had learned enough this night. There was no need to go into the many other things she could do.

Silence filled the air, and she was content with it. Though she liked to be alone on the battlements, she didn’t mind him being there. And that frightened her as nothing else could.

“A line of women, you say,” he said.

“For many generations it has been so, but we are dying out. There are just a handful of us left in this land.”

“Your abilities do not pass onto your children?” he asked, his brow furrowed.

“It only passes onto the females, but that isn’t the reason we’re dying out.”

“What is it then?”

“We were cursed. By one of our own.”

I’m so very excited to announce that I have book news. I learned yesterday that St. Martin’s wants me to continue with the Dark Warriors series. I’ll be writing 4 full length books and 3 novellas, all to release in 2013 from June – December, back to back.

Seven months of releases!  Who knew they would do that?!

I couldn’t be more pleased! I don’t think my neighbors were very happy with my squeal of pleasure when my agent called or the celebration we had when hubby brought home the bottle of champagne. 🙂

So, I’ll be diving back into the Dark Sword/Dark Warriors world ASAP.  First up, Arran’s book.  He’s on an adventure that even Indiana Jones would be envious of. 😉

Have a happy weekend, lovelies!

The Destiny Stone anthology release!

I’m so very excited to have this anthology out once again.  It all started when me and two very good friends wanted to write an anthology together.  We came up with a concept we thought was pretty different a couple of years ago.  It’s about a stone that travels through time.

Since Georgia, Mary, and I all wrote in different time periods we thought this would be the best for each of us.  So, I would begin the antho with a story set in Medieval Scotland.  Mary would take the middle story with it set in Victorian times, and Georgia would finish with a story set in contemporary US.

Unfortunately, our publisher at the time didn’t release the stories together.  They released the novellas separately, for three months.  Very few people realized the stories were connected despite everything we did. So, when we got the rights back, the first thing we did was decided to bind them together into one anthology.  Now, you can get all three stories and see just were the stone takes you. 🙂

Cambria of Stoneglade wants only to live in peace, but when she finds a mesmerizing stone, her life takes a dark turn. Wearing the stone allows Cambria’s dreams to become more vivid, more real and when she sees a handsome lord being murdered, she must decide if its just a dream or a foretelling of what is to come…

Samantha Covington wants to become a respected archeologist in Victorian England. Making life even more difficult is the constant success of the infamous and handsome treasure-hunter, Dex Diamond. He’s beaten her to every major find, ensuring both that her success remains elusive and that she despises him with every bone in her body. No matter–she has her dreams to comfort her, and the leading man at night does nothing but make her heart soar. When she sets her sights on an ancient Celtic legend, she not only has Dex Diamond to contend with, but the powers of a strange malachite stone.

Beth Winfield is an uptight real estate agent who prides herself on her dedication to her career. That is until she received a package from her maternal grandmother and learned she was appointed the next guardian of her family’s greatest secret, the Destiny Stone. Soon she finds herself plagued by nightmares and the most erotic dreams she’s ever had. Between stress at work, money troubles and lack of sleep, she’s sure her perfect life is about to fall apart. That is until her dream lover walks into her life.

Excerpt from DESTINY OF LOVE

Gawain broke the surface of the loch, a smile on his face. The water was chilly but exhilarating. His years of training alerted him instantly that he wasn’t alone. He turned in the water, his arms and legs keeping him afloat, to find a woman. A very naked, very beautiful woman.

Her large, expressive bright blue eyes watched him warily. She stood near the shore lowered in the water that hid all but her shoulders and the swell of her breasts.

“Hello,” he said. Her face was heart shaped, with full lips and a high forehead. Dark brows arched regally over her eyes, accentuating them. Her skin was bronzed, telling him she spent a great deal of time outside.

Water glistened on her face, neck and shoulders, yet she never moved, never made a sound.

“I won’t hurt you,” Gawain said and swam a little away from her.

“Who are you?”

Her voice was like velvet, dark and smooth. She was most likely a commoner and, once she learned who he was, she was liable to bolt like a frightened deer.

“Consider me a friend.”

She grunted and moved her hands behind her back. “Friends state their names.”

He smiled at her defensive attitude and moved until his feet touched the bottom. “Call me Gawain.”

Instead of stating her name, she just lifted a delicate brow. Gawain found her fascinating. The longer he was around her, the longer he wanted to stay near her.
He moved slowly through the water, inching his way toward her. Though she was nude, he had no doubt if he got too close she’d be out of the water faster than he could blink. So, he kept his distance.

“What do you have behind your back?” he asked after several quiet moments.

Her chin lifted a notch. “Nothing,” she responded quickly. A little too quickly.

Gawain narrowed his eyes. “You’re hiding something from me. What is it? A fish?”

She snorted. A very unladylike snort that brought a smile to Gawain’s lips.

“Nay, no fish. Besides, don’t you think it would be splashing around?”

Gawain nodded. “Hmm. Good point. So, why don’t you tell me what you’re hiding?”

“Why do you want to know?”

Gawain blinked. Not many people refused to do his bidding, and the few who dared were his closest friends. His first instinct was to order her to show her hand to him, but then he’d be telling her who he was, and he wasn’t ready for that yet. Instead, he took a deep breath and tried again.

“I’m curious by nature.”

She laughed, the sound pure and beautiful. She didn’t cover her mouth with her hand or bow her head.

“What you are, sir, is someone who can’t stand not having what he wants,” she said after she had stopped laughing, though a smile was still on her lips.

Gawain returned her smile. “Ah, you think so? So, what can I do to make you show me what you have?”

“Nothing?” he repeated, trying to hide his disappointment. “There isn’t anything you want in exchange?”

Her eyes lowered, and he could see that there just might be something he had.

“Name what it is you want in exchange.”

Cambria thought over the arrogant man’s boast. In exchange for showing him her beautiful green rock, she could probably have a decent meal for her and her grandmother that night. But was it worth the risk?

There was something about the stone that made her hesitate. She took a deep breath and shook her head. “There is much that I could use, but I must decline.”

Cambria rubbed the green stone between her fingers and felt it warm. She yearned to investigate it further, to study its shape, to take time to count the many shades of green it held. Though the man was handsome with his black hair slicked to his head and hanging past his neck where water dripped onto his thick shoulders, she knew he was dangerous. It was the look in his black eyes, a feral look, one that told her he would do what it took to get what he wanted.

I heard from my fabulously wonderful editor yesterday that she finished reading Ramsey’s book (MIDNIGHT’S WARRIOR) and “absolutely loved it!”  She also said it was her favorite out of all the books in the series.  She’s had other favorites, so this is really saying something. 🙂  Needless to say, I was very excited.  There are a few edits, but overall, nothing big.

I’ve been working on reading over and revising SHADOW MAGIC, the first in my Sisters of Magic trilogy that I’m re-releasing beginning November 1, 2011.  I haven’t done as much as I wanted due to the codeine infused cough medicine I’ve been taking. lol

My two fantastic assistants are helping me get everything in order for upcoming releases.  If you have an idea for a contest or anything for the forum, please email Leagh.

If you’re interested in having me at your blog to post or for an interview, and/or you’re interested in reviewing one of my upcoming ebooks, please email April.

For those who have emailed, here’s my upcoming release schedule:

October 18 – THE DESTINY STONE anthology (re-release)
November 1 – SHADOW MAGIC (re-release)
November 29 – ECHOES OF MAGIC (re-release)
December 27 – DANGEROUS MAGIC (re-release)
December 2012 – MIDNIGHT’S WARRIOR

There will be more of my backlist being re-released next year as well.  More of that to come later. 🙂

Weekly Update

The countdown is on to the contest on my forum that begins tomorrow for the release of PRIMAL HEAT!  If you haven’t signed up for the forum, please do so.  I’ve got Halloween themed prizes, Amazon gift cards, and free ebooks!

It’s going to an all day contest, but if you’re busy tomorrow, don’t fear.  The contest will be open through Thursday, October 6th, with winners announced on Friday, October 7th.

Speaking of Halloween, do you have your decorations up yet?  My daughter and I was supposed to do that on Sunday, but I came down with a cold, so we’re putting it off until later this week.

Halloween is always a fun holiday, and though I decorate, I don’t go all out like I do for Christmas.  These two holidays are the only ones I do decorate for. 🙂

How about you?

There’s so much news that I haven’t been able to share because I was without my blog working for awhile.  However, if you’re a member of my forum, follow me on FaceBook, or receive my newsletter, then you probably know most of the news. 🙂

I’ve gotten to see the covers for both Midnight’s Master and Midnight’s Lover, as well as learning the release dates – May 22, 2012 and June 26, 2012 respectively.

The covers are stunning!  Truly stunning.  I cannot wait to show them off…but that won’t be for a few months yet.  I’m going to do a big “Cover Reveal” sometime in February/March.  I’m so looking forward to hearing what y’all think of the covers.  I will admit – they are completely different from the Dark Sword covers. 🙂

I’m working on a new proposal this week on an idea I got last night as I was drifting off to sleep.  That happens a lot, I’ve noticed.  It’s that place between awake and asleep that my brain kicks into overdrive.  I’m eager to start this proposal and see what these four guys have planned.

I will give you a hint – they’re Highlanders. 😀

lol.  Of course, right?!  I mean, who can resist a Highlander?  Apparently I can’t.

And next week I’ll be re-releasing my Halloween themed/werewolf novella – Primal Heat.  This was the first story I ever wrote that was set entirely in contemporary times.  I thought it fitting to release it during October, just in time for Halloween.
